Carol Daw has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Criminology from St. Patrick's College in Ottawa and a Bachelor's as well as a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary. Her initial Family and Divorce Mediation training was in 1992 through the Legal Education Society of Alberta. In both 1994 and 1995, she received training in Employment Mediation with the Human Rights Commission, as well as advanced training through the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society. Since then, Carol has taken a multitude of post-graduate training courses in counselling, mediation and supervision. She has Level I, Level II and advanced training in EMDR therapy.

Carol is a Clinical Social Worker and Mediator with over 30 years of experience working in Calgary in a variety of social service capacities. Carol is registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers and has been a Member of Family Mediation Canada for over 15 years. Carol's diverse experience includes working for 10 years doing assessments and mediations in disputed child custody cases, over 15 years doing investigations, educational seminars and mediations for the Human Rights Commission, and over 12 years doing individual, couple, and family counselling and mediation.

Carol has a very strong strengths-based approach, always seeking to work with individuals, couples, or families to help them to acknowledge and use their strengths to resolve their personal or interpersonal issues.

Carol was raised in a family of five children. She has been married for almost 30 years and has three grown children and one grandchild.

Lurline Ketler-Raposo - MA, RPC, RCC

Lurline Raposo has been working with children and families for over 16 years. She is co-owner of Bow Valley Counselling & Mediation and Family Life Works in Calgary. Lurline is a practicing Psychotherapist in addition to her Family Facilitator work. She has extensive experience and training in supporting parents through parenting challenges and she has been facilitating workshops and training for parents over the years for agencies such as Hull Child & Family Services, Canadian Mental Health Association, Catholic Family Service and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She currently teaches Marriage Preparation workshops for Catholic Family Service in addition to the Family Life Works workshops.

Lurline Raposo has a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.  She is licensed to practice in Canada as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Registered Professional Counsellor. Lurline has completed an advanced level of training in Play Therapy that offers specialized counselling strategies to support children, teens and their caregivers. She is member of the Association of Play Therapy and the Alberta Play Therapy Association. Lurline has also been a member of The Association of Contextual Behavioral Science, the professional organization that supports Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) practicing therapists, since 2008. Her commitment to supporting children and their families has her completing the final step to becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Her more recent counselling role had her treating children, teens and adults who had experienced sexual abuse trauma. Lurline has training in the Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) brief trauma method. She uses both Gottman and Emotion-Focused approaches for couples experiencing relationship difficulties.

Lurline received her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Simon Fraser University in 1995. She worked as an Executive Director of a local branch of a national, non-profit children's organization for 5 years before completing her graduate studies. Lurline has been married for over 24 years and has a son and a daughter. She was raised in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia but she has also lived on the East Coast of Canada. Lurline has called Calgary home since the spring of 2007. She has a number of musical pursuits that fills up her free time and she loves to travel and learn about other cultures.
